Baby Time

Baby Gage is due June 14, 2010. We are so so excited! I am a little over 13 weeks. We had our 2nd doctor appointment on Monday and we got to hear the heartbeat and see the baby. The baby was being so active and was kicking it's arms and legs and moving around all over the place, which was fun to see. I am hoping we'll find out the gender at my next appointment the first of January, but not sure if we will because I'll only be 17 weeks. I really want to find out though because then I can finally start buying stuff and decorating the nursery. Luckily, I have been feeling great and haven't been real sick at all. I think the biggest side affect has been fatigue, but I will definitely take that over morning sickness. Anyways, we are so excited for this next little adventure in our lives.
Some other exciting news...we bought tickets last night to Hawaii! We have been saying we are going to do this for so long but we just kept putting it off or something else would come up. Finally I just told Matt we are going to buy the tickets and just do it! Matt has never been so I'm so excited to go with him and to just relax and hang out and see cute Gwen and Mason! And I'm glad we are able to do this before the baby comes and our lives get really crazy!

House

Wow, we are well overdue for a new post. I just wanted to write a quick update of our exciting news...we are now homeowners! And we are loving it so far. Matt and I decided about a year ago that we wanted to buy a house because we knew that now was the time to buy a house in Vegas. About 6 months ago we started looking around, we were told it could take a while with the way the market was and we knew that we had to have something by the first of November, when our apartment contract ended. I thought we were looking way too early and we would end up having a house and an apartment at the same time...but little did we know the crazy adventure we had in store for us with this CRAZY housing market in Vegas right now. Anyways, we found a house that we really liked in the neighborhood we wanted. It was a short sale so our realtor told us it could take a while for our offer to be accepted but about 30-60 days. We knew we'd be okay because we had about 5 months. Well July 4th weekend we put in our offer and waited, and waited, and waited. By September we were getting pretty nervous because we hadn't put in any other offers while we were waiting for this offer to be accepted. Our realtor kept assuring us that this offer would go through but we just needed to wait a little longer. Well by first of October we were done waiting and knew we needed to get into something soon, no more short sales and only foreclosures now because they could go through a lot faster. We started looking at foreclosures but became very frusted because either the house would be disgustingly dirty and really trashed and wrecked which would cost a lot of money to fix up, or we'd find one we would like but it would already have high offers well above asking price because of the investors from California who were coming in and buying houses to turn around and sale. One day I basically came to the decision that we would just not get into a house because of how crazy things were. Anyways, the next day we went to go look at a couple more houses. We looked at the one that we're in now and immediately knew we wanted it as soon as we saw it. Of course it had it's advantages and disadvantages, like all houses do, but we still really liked it, as well as the neighborhood. We immediately put in our offer but weren't expecting anything to happen. Our realtor basically set us up for disappointment by saying it was a nice house and it had to stay on the market for another 7 days and they would take any offer that they could get. Well we put in our offer that day, and two days later our offer was accepted! We were shocked for a couple days but after reality set in we were so excited. Now that we are all moved in I look back at the way things happen and I know they happened the way they did for a reason. Things couldn't have happened any better. We litterally moved in the weekend before our lease was up in our apartment. Also, this house was in perfect, clean, move in ready condition with every appliance included. Not one other house we looked had any of these benefits. Also, I just know that we were supposed to be in this house over the other house we really wanted and that offer didn't accept for a reason. Anyways, we just feel so blessed that things worked out the way it did and that we were able to get into a house. One thing I especially love about this house is that it is a big blank canvas. I can't wait to decorate it and make it just the way I want it. I will post pics later when things aren't such a mess.

Running

This past weekend Matt ran the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon. This was his first race and he did awesome! One thing that I love about Matt is that he is always setting goals and will do whatever it takes to reach a goal. It wasn't too long ago that he decided he wanted to run this race and even with his busy schedule he found the time to train. I am so thankful for such a hard-working, determined, and amazing husband!!
Before the race (and a little nervous).

Looking good so far in Tropic with just a few miles left to go.

Crossing the finish line with an awesome time of 2:10:20.

Matt's sister and brother-in-law who also ran the race.

Taking a break after.

The medal and proud wife :)

After relaxing and taking some naps, we went up to Bryce Canyon and went to a few lookouts there.

Cabin

My favorite thing about summer....going to my parent's cabin in Fishlake, Utah. Four days of family, four-wheeling, fishing, boating, good food, great weather, no cell-phones and no work, can't get much better than that!! Here are some of the fun things we did while we were there.

On Friday we took all the bikes and four-wheelers out and went on a pretty long ride.

Taking a break.

Some of the beautiful scenery.

Matt enjoying the ride.

It was really dry and dusty that day so when we got back to the cabin we got a good laugh when we saw how dirty we were.

Close up of Matt. Haha.

On Saturday we rented a couple of pontoons and went out on the lake.

So pretty!

Some other random pics from the weekend.

Gwen and Mason LOVE Uncle Matt. Gwen refered to Matt as "buddy" all weekend and Matt was the only person Mason would go to, besides his mom. I was a little jealous haha but it was really cute.

Good Times

So once again, it's been a while since we've updated our blog. But I feel now that it is summer time, we'll actually have stuff to blog about. I love this time of year and all the vacations, family reunions, etc. This weekend was kind of the kick off weekend to our fun summer ahead of us. We went to St. George for the weekend and on Saturday, me and some friends from High School threw a SURPRISE baby shower for our friend Nikell. I can't believe we actually pulled off a surprise shower but we did and it was tons of fun! The weather was perfect, we had a good turn out, and Nikell got some really good stuff. That night us girls went to our 5 year High School Reunion. Crazy! It's great to have such good friends who are so much fun and I'm so glad that we've been able to keep in touch and stay close over the years. Here's some pics from the shower.

Another fun thing that happened this weekend was being reunited with my friend Sarah! Sarah has been on a mission in Maryland and just got home. Seeing Sarah brought back soo many memories and all the good times we had. I'm just glad she forgave me and still wants to be my friend since I only wrote her about 3 times the whole time she was gone. Anyways, it was so great to see her and spend some time with her and I'm so glad she's home!

Amazing

This video clip/song is amazing. I can't wait until we can get into a house and get a piano so Matt can start playing the piano again. Matt is an amazing piano player and I love listening to him play. Anyways, the talent of these two guys is incredible. We've been to a couple Jon Schmidt concerts and his piano playing is so amazing and fun to watch. Enjoy! (I don't know how to post videos so you have to copy and paste the link...sorry, but it's worth it!)

Happy Birthday Matt!

We celebrated Matt's 28th birthday a couple weeks ago. He wanted a carrot cake for his birthday cake, which is actually pretty ironic because Matt is known to be a very picky eater and not like his vegetables. It was my first attempt at carrot cake but it turned out pretty good!

However, the best part of Matt's Birthday was that we were finally able to upgrade our cable plan to include ESPN, just in time for March Madness! Matt was quite happy about this, if you can't tell....
